Placement of Students

Where AU students are placed in third party organisations as part of their course of study a prior assessment of the health and safety arrangements of the third party must be undertaken as part of the approval process. The situation must be monitored to maintain continued approval of the organisations.

The responsibility to ensure that these requirements are met rests with the AU Academic Department involved. Comprehensive guidance is given in the UCEA guidance document cited below; this guidance represents AU policy for the H&S aspects of student placements.

If Children (< 16 years of age) or Young People (16 - 17) are placed at AU for work experience then the requirements for prior risk assessment and close supervision must be adhered to.
