Profile
Sam is a qualified Adult Nurse with extensive clinical and academic experience. This has been developed through a diverse and progressive career in nursing and education. She began her journey as a Staff Nurse on a Trauma and Orthopaedic ward, where she gained invaluable experience in providing care within a high-pressure environment. Following this, Sam started working on the community as a District Nurse, delivering holistic and patient centred care within the community.
It was during her time as a District Nurse that she discovered her passion for Palliative and End of Life Care. Working closely with patients and their families in the community, she became committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care during the most challenging times. This passion led to her role as a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist in the community. In this position, she expertly managed a complex caseload of patients, providing symptom management and end of life care while supporting individuals and their families in their homes.
Sam has brought her wealth of clinical experience into the academic arena, previously serving as a Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Worcester. In this role, she taught and supported nursing and nursing associate students, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers. Sam has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Sam is committed to her own learning and development and is currently studying for a Doctorate in Education at Cardiff University. Her research focuses on the use of artificial intelligence within nursing practice.
Sam has a keen interest in integrating innovative technology and simulation into nursing practice. Using simulation as a powerful tool for enhancing clinical skills, critical thinking and confidence among students. As a lecturer, Sam is dedicated to equipping the next generation of students with the knowledge, skills and compassion required to excel in their careers.
