LGBT+ History Month 2025

LGBT+ History Month is for everyone; whether you work in education, a museum, library or art gallery, a business, a service, are a member of a network/social group or an individual.

It is celebrated every February across the UK, and was founded in 2004 by Schools OUT co-chairs, Paul Patrick & Professor Emeritus Sue Sanders. LGBT+ History Month is an annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans history, including the history of LGBT+ rights and related civil rights movements. There are events and activities on campus:

He is also LGBTQ+ Lead and has overall departmental responsibility for ensuring that Nursing at Aber prioritises queer cultural competence and congruence in its programme delivery.

This seminar will focus on what the Healthcare Education Department's current queer strategy is, and the ways in which the team offer a dynamic, exciting, and innovative curricula with a queer slant and in doing so, is quickly becoming a flagship institution for queering nurse education.
From teaching about LGBTQ+ inclusivity and visibility in nursing to transgender pregnancy, gay domestic violence and queer dementia care, the Healthcare Education Department is ensuring that our pre-registration students will graduate and enter the nursing profession with a keen awareness of and ability to nurse and manage the care of their LGBTQ+ patients and service users.
