International Women's Day 2024
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #InspireInclusion #IWD2024.
We’re proud to celebrate International Women’s Day on the 8 March. Several special events and activity have been organised over the course of the week:
- Aberystwyth University Visibility Awards - Submit nominations by 1st March to: caw113@aber.ac.uk
To celebrate International Women’s Day we invite you to nominate women and non-binary staff members to recognise their contribution to research in Aberystwyth University. We encourage you to look beyond those who are traditionally celebrated and be part of disrupting the dominant representation of success.
In a thriving research environment, all too often certain contributions may go unseen, from academics whose research is under-acknowledged, to technicians, librarians, administrators and many others. Gender often plays a part. We also welcome nominations that consider the intersections between identity categories, such as gender AND race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexuality, class, parental status, those with disabilities or any other relevant identities. All nominees who meet the criteria will be recognised by the Visibility Awards. Submit nominations by 1st March to: caw113@aber.ac.uk
