Representatives from our Academic Departments will be on hand during the week, to discuss our range of courses and to give an insight into our exceptional research that's making a difference to everyday lives.

A few lost poems by Gwenallt and T. H. Parry-Williams 
Dr Bleddyn Owen Huws and Gruffydd Davies from the Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies will be discussing a few lost poems by Gwenallt and T. H. Parry-Williams that are not included in the published collections of the poets’ work. While working on his PhD thesis on Gwenallt’s legacy, Gruffydd has found new poems in a family archive, and some new poems by Parry-Williams have come to light while Bleddyn is preparing a complete edition of the poet’s verse to be published next year. Both T. H. Parry-Williams and Gwenallt taught at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and were among the most prominent Welsh poets of the twentieth century.

This event will launch the Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies 150th anniversary, with events planned throughout the next academic year.

A lecture and talk with Professor Jamie Medhurst (Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies) and Rhys Evans (Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Policy, BBC Cymru Wales). An opportunity to discuss the history, development, and future of BBC Wales television as it celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

Solving mathematical problems with bubbles - have you ever wondered why a bubble is spherical? We will use bubbles to observe some of the shapes formed by minimal surfaces, as well as solving the Steiner problem so that we can propose the shortest way of connecting some of our towns and cities.
