Profile
Originally from the US, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Art History and French and Francophone Studies before moving to the UK to pursue postgraduate study. After completing a Master's degree in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute, with a focus on Modernism, I worked in the London art market for ten years as a curatorial assistant, gallery manager, picture valuer and auctioneer before moving to Aberystwyth. Career highlights include the sale of a rare archival collection relating to the sculptor Auguste Rodin, now in the collection of the Musée Rodin in Paris, and identifying a lost early work by Richard Smith CBE. I am currently working on a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership PhD with the University of Bristol and the Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum of Wales, examining Gwen John's works on paper.
My particular interests within Art History include the history of collecting, women in modernist art circles, and Modern British prints and works on paper. I have written for Candid Magazine and the Burlington Magazine, and won the Burlington Contemporary Art Writing Prize in 2015.
I currently teach the following Art History modules for Aberystwyth University Lifelong Learning: Introduction to Art History, The Davies Sisters Collection, Collectors & Collections: Natural History Illustration.
