Links

Some headings, which are also links, have titles, so the text is read out twice by Screen Readers. This is confusing when the pages are accessed using assistive technology. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context).

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are investigating different themes in WordPress that may be more accessible. We are also checking documentation to see if it is possible for us to make more fundamental changes to blog sites, including stopping blog titles being heading 1s and changing the use of titles on links that already have text contained within them. It may not be possible to improve accessibility in all areas depending on the limitations of the software.
