SMB Skills Challenge: Induction with a Difference
15 October 2015
The Annual School of Management and Business Skills Challenge was once again a highly competitive affair, with the appropriately named ‘Quietly Confident’ victorious.
First year students were put in teams and set a variety of ‘unorthodox’ tasks to introduce them to university life, and to each other, while developing valuable management and business skills. Tasks included a treasure hunt, a lego activity and an unconventional tour of the library.
Student Experience Director Sarah Lindop said:
“The Skills Challenge is a really popular event with both students and lecturers. It was a great competition this year, but as usual the competition was second to the opportunity to learn about the university, our staff, and their own skills and development in a fun setting,”
Feedback suggests that the challenge was also valued by students – 93% said that the session was appropriate to their needs, while a 100% were clear on the purpose of the day.
