Book a session with our Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow, Alys Fowler. The Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow is a professional, published author whose role is to help you strengthen your writing. 

This is a free, confidential service to help you improve your writing skills. Students of any discipline, at any level of study (from 1^st year to postgraduate), or staff, are welcome to book a session.

Consultations for international students on academic literacy skills 

The International English Centre (IEC) is offering one-to-one consultation sessions for international students, focussing on English language skills in the academic context. 

This is a free service, open to all registered undergraduate and postgraduate students at Aberystwyth University.  Students can meet with an IEC English language tutor to gain advice and guidance on their use of English for academic tasks such as written assignments and oral presentations.  

The sessions are up to 50 minutes long and students are entitled to a maximum of 3 sessions per semester.

The sessions will be most useful for:

a)      Students whose first language is not English;

b)      Students who are relatively inexperienced in studying through the medium of English

How to book a consultation:

To book a consultation, please email tesol@aber.ac.uk  with subject header: “one-to-one consultation”. We will do our best to respond to you within 2 working days.  

Note:  the consultations are not drop-in sessions and are provided by appointment only.

Develop your skills in mathematics, statistics or numeracy with one-to-one support

Experienced tutors are available to help students with questions about mathematics or statistics as part of their course.

The Digital Skills Team offer 1:1 appointments for students who want advice and guidance on developing their digital skills. We can help you find resources that you can use to develop your digital skills; give you general advice about developing your digital skills; and we are also very happy to discuss your Digital Discovery Tool reports. 

You can either book an appointment online, or through emailing digi@aber.ac.uk. 

Weekly Drop-in sessions: A member of the team will also be available each week to support students at one of our weekly Digital Skills drop-ins (further information).
