One of the innovative teaching initiatives here in Aberystwyth is a program of two weekend courses designed to improve employability through the development of team-building skills and swinging over muddy ponds. You can read about the aspects of these weekends here and here - I think I'll just stick to my area of expertise - having fun.

Scott Group

This is Scott Group, a bunch of like-minded sociopaths who met during the Aberdovey weekend, and have since pillaged and burned every pub in the Aberystwyth area.
Please note the shady-looking bugger on the right is nothing to do with us at all ever in any way, period.

Fair play, these weekends are great for meeting people, then wrapping your legs around their head.

The Bargain Bits

• Loads of free, very nice, food - one thing you soon learn to appreciate as a student is the hassle of having to eat sometime - most of my friends don't bother because they would have to wash up afterwards. Anyway, the food on these weekends is great - especially Gregynog, where you also get waited on. Well...only at Gregynog, to be perfectly honest - the food in Aberdovey was bulbed, and was prepared by some of the most motley characters since 'Captain Pugwash'.
• Meeting people - the weekends are probably the best opportunity you'll get to meet the people on your course, and the first weekend is scheduled for just a couple of weeks into the first term which allows you to gain enough confidence to enjoy the weekends to the full with your new friends.

Forgotten the name for this group - it probably began with a 'B' though



This is another group during a teamwork project that involved designing and making a glider out of limited resources and an egg over a very short timespan - none of them worked, but my group had the only glider that landed behind the starting line (but at least the egg didn't break)
