This page lists the Induction Week events for 3rd year students between 27th September and 1st October 2021.
Due to Welsh Government guidance for universities, there isn't one room that we could use on campus to fit the whole year in one session during Inudction Week. Therefore, we are going to have a room for those who would like to join the session in-person and run a Teams session at the same time.
Please Note: this is different to timetabled learning sessions during term. The timetabled sessions are arranged to allow everyone to attend the sessions on their timetable.
For Microsoft Teams, log in with your Aberystwyth User ID. For Discord, you will need to create an ID if you don't already have one. It is free to get an Id. You can use Teams and Discord in a browser, as a desktop app, on your phone or on a tablet.

This session is for anyone who hasn't yet completed registration for this year and anyone who has questions about their registration. If you have general questions about registration in the meantime, you can contact cs-exam-advice@aber.ac.uk
If you completed Pre-Registration in April/May, you should be able to finish registration by going to your Student Record from Thursday 23rd September.
If you did not complete Pre-Registration, then come to this online session. After the advisors have spoken to you about the modules you will take, you then go on to complete registration on the Student Record.
To reduce the virtual queues, the following time slots have been defined based on surnames. Please aim to attend during your timeslot:

This is held in MP-0.11 and on Teams at the same time. It runs between 11.00 and 12:30.
This is a chance for us to cover information about the year and answer questions you might have. This is for all students in the 3rd year. Neil Taylor will lead this session.
There will be two sessions to discuss the Major and Minor Projects that you will work on in Semester 2. We will explain how projects are organised and how we will organise topics.
MMP - this session is for students taking the Major/Minor project modules CS39440, CC39440, CS39620 or CC39620.
Neil Taylor will lead this session.
The session is in MP-0.11 and in Teams at the same time.
Web-based Major Projects - for students taking the module CS39930.
Edel Sherratt will lead this session.
The session is in MP-0.10 and in Teams at the same time.
Both sessions start at 14:00.
This is in MP-0.11 and on Microsoft Teams from 13:00 to 14:00.
This session is for anyone interested postgraduate study with Masters courses or PhD. This is relevant if you want to take postgraduate study in Aber or another University. Myra Wilson and Neil MacParthalain will run the session. The session is open to any 2nd and 3rd year students interested in postgraduate study.
This is in MP-0.11 and on Microsoft Teams from 14.30 to 16:00.
In this session, we will look at the next steps you need to consider for your career journey, from choosing a career and building your plan to finding graduate jobs and identifying the resources available. It will also give you a brief reminder of how the careers service can support you during the remainder of your time in university and beyond. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. Morwenna Jeffery, from the Careers office, will lead the session.
