Wednesday 29th September

Registration

This is on Discord between 9:30 and 12:30.

This session is for anyone who hasn't yet completed registration for this year and anyone who has questions about their registration. If you have general questions about registration in the meantime, you can contact cs-exam-advice@aber.ac.uk

If you completed Pre-Registration in April/May, you should be able to finish registration by going to your Student Record from Thursday 16th September. If you did not complete Pre-Registration, then come to this online session. Thursday 30th September

No timetabled events today, but you should spend the time preparing for the practical/workshop events on Friday.

Space Science and Robotics students: You do not need to attend a workshop.

BIT & Web Dev students: Choose one of your CS11010 web projects to expand or polish during the Web Development workshop.

All other CS students: Review CS12320 basics on Java and OO.

If you are using your own PC for the workshop, you will need the Java development kit installed: https://jdk.java.net/
We have JDK 16 installed on faculty PCs but JDK 17 is now available and you could use that if you prefer.

You should also install IntelliJ. The free Community edition is sufficient, but you can get the Ultimate edition if you wish. Download from https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download and either use our license server at http://jetbrains.dcs.aber.ac.uk:1111 or obtain a student pack licence from JetBrains: https://www.jetbrains.com/community/education/#students

Alternatively, you can use IntelliJ via our remote desktop service, but note that this may result in a poorer user interface experience compared to running it locally.
