AberSkills
Adriana Cahill is an Aberystwyth graduate and is now studying for a Masters. In this blog she introduces some of the many services that students can access through AberSkills:
Through the AberSkills webpages and the AberSkills hub in Hugh Owen Library, you have access to a comprehensive one-stop-shop designed to meet all your academic, digital and employability skills needs.
On the webpages, you can learn about notetaking and essay writing, find information on the right way to reference, develop your academic writing skills, find resources about revising for exams, and learn how to improve your employability.
The AberSkills hub in Hugh Owen Library also offers a number of 1:1 appointments and drop ins, and I encourage you to make the most of these during your time at the University.
For example, you can get help from your Subject Librarian, who can assist in gathering materials for your projects, essays and assignments, help you with referencing, and more.
There are also maths and statistics drop-ins run by the Department of Maths, where experienced tutors can help you to brush up your maths, statistics and numeracy skills.
The AberSkills webpages also signpost to many language-learning resources, so whether you want to improve your Welsh or learn Mandarin, there is help available.
You can also access many Skills workshops which are free of charge to Aber Uni students. There is also specific content and information on workshops for those working through the medium of Welsh or bilingually.
These AberSkills services are free to you as a student, and I urge you to make the most of them while you’re a student here.
