Waldo Williams Bursary Application Form

Please submit one of the following to be considered by the Waldo Williams Bursary Panel:

  • An essay on any aspect of Waldo Williams’ creative work (no more than 1,500 words)
  • An essay on any aspect of pacifism (no more than 1,500 words)
  • A collection of creative work related to the subject ‘peace’ or ‘pacifism’, or which responds directly to Waldo Williams’ creative work (no more than 1,500 words or 5 poems)
  • Translation to Welsh of literary works which convey a message of pacifism (no more than 1,500 words or 50 lines of poetry). Complete beginners to the Welsh language may submit English translations of the relevant literary works.

You may submit your work as an attachment to your application form, or by email to scholarships@aber.ac.uk by 31 January.

Applicants are expected to submit Welsh language work, unless they are applying to study Welsh for Beginners.

By submitting this form, I certify that all the information given in this application is accurate and complete. I understand that the award will be withdrawn if I change to an ineligible scheme of study, or if I do not adhere to the full terms and conditions of the award. I accept that the successful candidate may be required to work with the Development and Alumni Relations Office to promote the Bursary and report back to the donor on the impact it has had on their time at Aberystwyth University. I give permission for enquiries to be made by contacting the relevant authorities to confirm the information provided.

The information provided on this form will be retained in accordance with current data protection legislation. We will only use the information in relation to your application and this award. The only people who will use the information will be i) staff involved in the administration of the Waldo Williams Bursary, and in some cases ii) external people involved in making decisions about the Bursary. The information is retained on the basis that you have agreed to this processing, but also that it is within the legal interests of the University to retain the information for the above purposes.
