REF: 66-2211-6986230 - Hugh Owen Library Level E Exit

Your comment: In the library computer room (next to group room 3) there is an exit that would be great to allow people to walk in and out of as it will be quicker for students to access the library rather than walking around and back up. I understand the need to check people aren't taking books out so there could be scanners by the entrance to the room or by the actual exit.

Our response:

Thank you very much for your suggestion about having an exit available to library users in the computer room.

Unfortunately, there are a number of reasons that this is not really an option for us. Firstly, we would be concerned about the impact that any exit in that location would have on any of our users working in that area. In addition, as you rightly highlight, we would need to install a set of security gates at any new entrance, and this is something that we do not have provision for within our budget. We would also need to have a member of staff there to manage any triggering of the alarm, which we do not have the capacity to do.
