REF Compliance

Further considerations of the specific open access requirements for REF 2029 will take place in 2024.

Until new policies come into force, institutions should continue to follow the REF 2021 guidance: 

To be eligible for submission to REF, a deposit for any journal article or conference proceeding submitted to a publication bearing an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) needs to be made to the institutional repository within 3 months of the date of acceptance for publication.

Full compliance with this policy is expected but possible exceptions can apply. Outputs cannot be made open access retrospectively for the purposes of REF.
