Edwin joined RBI in April 2023 from HM Coastguard, where he was a Senior Coastal Operations Officer.
Main responsibilities at previous employment
In Edwin’s role for HM Coastguard, he managed and trained volunteer search and rescue teams across North and West Wales and responded to incidents on the coast. He was an instructor in cliff, mud and water rescue and was responsible for all aspects of recruitment, training, estates management and equipment management.
Education and work experience
Edwin grew up in Aberystwyth before serving in the Royal Air Force for 18 years. His military career was focussed on operations, training and crisis response, as well as management of a portfolio of procurement and research programmes. He studied with the Open University, focussing on leadership and management and undertaking most of his studies while deployed on military operations, and Henley Business School, where completed an MBA as part of his transition from HM Forces. He also worked as part of the executive team for a boutique risk and resilience consultancy before finding an opportunity to return to Aberystwyth.
