This module will introduce students working Fine Art based research to practice based methodologies and how to employ these as part of their research methodologies.

An awareness of a range of literature in relation to practice based research methodologies
An understanding of the application of practice in a research context
An understanding of how practice can inform and direct a research question
An awareness of creating a focused approach to practice in relation to a research question
Documentation and cataloging of creative practice within a research context

This module will cover different practice based Fine Art research methodologies, such as research through practice and praxis approaches. This is aimed at supporting early stages of research to help develop understanding of using practice as a research. This module will support students in all Fine Art based practices, including but not limited to Painting, Print making, Photography, Illustration and Socially Engaged Practice.
