Brief description

Please note that this module is only open to Single Honours French students.

The dissertation will be on a topic chosen by the student, arising from modules taken previously or being taken concurrently, from their year abroad experience, or from their own initiative. Topics are chosen in collaboration with the module convenor and the individual supervisor.

Aims

The SH dissertation module is the concluding element of a single honors degree. It is the opportunity for students to showcase their understanding of the history and culture of the target language and of the countries where it is spoken. Written in the target language, they can demonstrate their ability to present arguments convincingly, and to a high linguistic standard.

This module offers final year single honours students an opportunity to study a specific topic related to their target language in greater detail. It equips students with a knowledge of research methods, research and presentation skills, both oral and written, necessary for the completion of their dissertations. It also allows students to showcase their ability to work independently.
