Students will also be required to produce an accurate transcript of the presentation, and include a reference list of works cited. The skills of recording a presentation through PowerPoint and transcribing recordings will be developed in seminars. | 60% |

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Demonstrate familiarity with relevant literature from sociology and other relevant fields
Evaluate and engage critically with different perspectives on gender and sex/sexuality, in various areas of social life
Carry out analysis of current events and/or popular media , with reference to appropriate sociological theory and concepts of gender and sexuality
Brief description
‘Genders and Sexualities’ introduces students to contemporary controversies and key historical debates in the sociology of gender. The module takes an intersectional approach, arguing that genders and sexualities intersect with other social dimensions such as ‘race’/ ethnicity, class and age. Students will learn how to think critically about gender and sexuality in relation to social institutions, culture and identity.
