On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of gastrointestinal microbiology of livestock and the key functions of the gut microbiota
Identify methods to manipulate GI function to affect product quality and evaluate methods to reduce GHG emissions from ruminant livestock

This module provides students with a detailed understanding of the role of gastrointestinal microbiology in ration formulation
Content
Through a series of online lectures, guided reading and quizzes, students will explore:
- The gastrointestinal microbiology of livestock
- The key functions of the gut microbiota in relation to livestock nutrition
- Methods both to manipulate gastrointestinal (GI) function to affect product quality, and to reduce green house gas (GHG) emissions
