Learning Outcomes
After completing this module:
1. You will have gained an overview of the main developments in Welsh literature from the early Middle Ages to the present day.
2. You will be able to place the main literary currents in their historical context.
3. You will be able to offer a critical appraisal of selected texts in translation.
Brief description
This course, designed for non-Welsh speakers and for Welsh learners, offers an insight into literature in Welsh from the early Middle Ages to the present day. A series of 11 lectures provides an overview of the development of the main literary currents in their historical context, while the complementary fortnightly seminars concentrate in more depth on selected texts.
