Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Identify and pursue a viable creative enquiry through research, experimentation, and evaluation.
Articulate the research process and creative development via a range of means (from traditional written work, to oral presentations, and installation/intervention)
Reflect on, constructively critique, and respond to their own creative work and the work of others
Work towards a deadline and public event.
Formulate a project proposal, risk assessment, budget, and personal timeline for a public event.
Brief description
The module provides an opportunity for students taking a variety of modules from both Creative Arts and Fine Art to work together as a group, enabling them to develop a rich and interactive practice-based dialogue.
Students will be encouraged to draw upon elements from their optional taught modules towards the development of a unique, individual or collaborative interdisciplinary creative practice.
From within their practice, students will devise and develop a creative project that will be a site-specific or site-responsive ‘intervention’ to be installed in and around the Arts Centre at the end of the academic year.
Students will work independently on own creative projects, but will also show awareness of group activity, culminating in a public event/exhibition at the Arts Centre. This will be curated and coordinated by the students taking Interdisciplinary Making 2. Both activities will operate under tutor supervision and in consultation with Gareth Roberts and Gill Ogden from the Arts Centre.
The students continue to learn how to develop a practice that is directly connected to and informed by their research, an awareness of how their practice sits within a wider contemporary, interdisciplinary, critical discourse.
This module is taught through a lecture, group tutorials, workshops, student-lead seminars, and presentations. The students will develop a project that encompasses and critically engages with the wide range of attitudes, approaches and disciplines offered by the Creative Arts and Fine Art Schemes. Content
Learning about and acquiring professional and employability skills are central to this module. Students are asked to identify, then extract and process, an intelligent, innovative and critical practice-based outcome that is an assimilation of their studies across the study scheme. They must then develop a site-responsive or site-specific project to be presented within the public space of the Arts Centre and to a live audience.
