Brief description
Academic rationale of the proposal:
The dissertation is the final element in the Department'r MA History of Wales programme. Its aim is to assess the student'r ability to analyse and organise a substantial body of historical material as well as present it in a sustained and convincing argument which makes a contribution to historical scholarship in a Welsh context. The students are not necessarily required to reach new conclusions, but rather to write a piece of original research which demonstrates the ability to think independently.
Brief Description:
This module involves researching and presenting the MA dissertation, a piece of independent research of up to 15,000 words, supervised by a designated member of staff.
Content:
The module content consists of the preparation and submission of the dissertation. Students are expected to complete this over the summer months, under the supervision of a member of staff. The dissertation will be a 15,000 word piece of independent historical research on a subject of the student'r choice, with guidance from the departmental staff.
Students will be required to submit their dissertations by the 30 September following their registration and period of study. Part-time students will submit by the 30 September of the following year.
