Learning Outcomes
The module should enable students to:
- understand the implications of recent changes in the management of schools and their curricula and other factors influencing the information needs of the school community;
- appreciate the range of characteristics of information resources available to support teaching and learning
- understand the role which the school library resource centre can play in support of the school curriculum
- appreciate the importance of effective management policies and practices to enable the school library resource centre to play a key role within the school
Aims
The aims of this module are:
- to describe the role that libraries can play in support of teaching and learning in the school context;
- to identify the range of services and resources needed to enable a school library resource centre to perform this role effectively;
- to discuss some of the major issues in the management of school library resource centres
