This module investigates how and why children play. Understanding play can help parents, carers and people working with families to support children'r learning and social development.
The module examines how play contributes to children'r development; different kinds of play; and approaches to supporting and intervening in play.

4. Cognitive developmental accounts of play: Piaget and Vygotsky (could be in two)

7. Cross-cultural perspectives and play
8. Approaches to therapeutic play
9. Play education and Social policy relating to play
10. Summary Module evaluation
