Brief description

The module aims to provide FDSc Equine Studies students with an opportunity to secure and complete a period of a minimum of 6 weeks in full time employment in an organisation or business related to their study scheme.

Students will be expected to seek and secure, approved, full time employment (paid or unpaid) for a minimum of 6 weeks in the vacation period between first and second years of the scheme, during which time they will be expected to gain experience of the workplace and of undertaking a working role. The 6 weeks will normally be expected to be a continuous, non-retrospective, period of employment with a single employer.

All positions will need to be approved by the module co-coordinator (in conjunction with the scheme coordinator where appropriate), prior to the commencement of any employment. Due to the compulsory nature of the module, any student who fails to find satisfactory employment will be offered a relevant, as is reasonably possible, voluntary position within the University.
