Sharing Good Practice Event - Academic Excellence

On the 2nd (face-to-face) and 3rd (on-line) of July we are running Digwyddiad Rhannu Arfer Da - Rhagoriaeth Academaidd (Sharing Good Practice Event - Academic Excellence). The event will be held through the medium of Welsh only.

The aim of the two-day event is to present papers under the Teaching Excellence theme for example:

  • Learning and Teaching
  • Learning through the medium of Welsh
  • Student Support
  • Supervision
  • Personal Tutoring

People from Bangor University, Cardiff University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, The Open University in Wales, Aberystwyth University, and others presenting on these two days.

New printer-copiers

From the week beginning 17th June, Information Services are working with Ricoh to replace our current printer-copiers with new devices. The roll out will take approximately 2 weeks, each device will be unavailable for about 30 minutes while its replacement is configured. Other than that, there should be no further inconvenience to users.

ApAber Replacement

Our new Student Hub will be replacing ApAber as our online portal for all students in July. All the links that have been available via ApAber are now available here and we’ve added additional links and information to bring everything together in one place.

Networks Upgrade Disruption June and July 2024

This work is required to introduce new high speed network equipment and to reconfigure network devices to work with this hardware.

4th June – 07:00hrs to 10:00hrs – Top half of Penglais Campus (Hugh Owen/Arts Centre/Parry Williams/Top of Campus residences, etc)

6th June – 08:00hrs to 11:00hrs – PJM

11th June – 07:00hrs to 10:00hrs – Routing changes affecting the whole of campus.

13thJune – 08:00hrs to 11:00hrs – PFR (Penglais Farm)

18th June – 07:00hrs to 10:00hrs – Bottom half of Penglais (Physical Sciences/Llandinam Building/Ed Llwyd, etc)

20th June – 08:00 to 11:00hrs – Gogerddan Campus

4th July – 08:00 to 11:00hrs – Removal of old equipment

6th July – 08:00 to 11:00hrs – Removal of old equipment

Maintenance windows are wide to allow for testing, and time to revert if we find any issues.

Sharing Good Practice - Academic Excellence

Ultra Courses created ready for Academic Year 2024-25

Blackboard Ultra courses for the academic year 2024-25 have been created and are available to staff. Students won’t be able to access or view course content until they have completed registration.

Hugh Owen Library summer opening hours

Do you have study or research plans in Aber this summer?

The Hugh Owen Library will be open throughout June and July from 8.30am - 10pm 7 days a week.  

In August the Hugh Owen Library will be open from 8.30am - 5.30pm Mon-Fri.
