Satisfied Students at School of Education and Lifelong Learning (NSS 2016)

10 August 2016

Aberystwyth University’s School of Education and Lifelong Learning achieved an impressive 95% overall satisfaction score in a UK-wide survey - significantly higher than the UK figure.

The School received strong results generally, achieving a high 89% for the quality of teaching on its courses in the 2016 National Student Survey (NSS).

These excellent results are part of a wider success story at Aberystwyth University which is rated the best in Wales and one of the top ten higher education institutions in the UK for overall student satisfaction, according to the annual survey.

The results show that overall satisfaction amongst students at Aberystwyth University stands at 92% - that’s six percentage points higher than the UK figure of 86%.

Mr Prysor Mason Davies, Assistant Director within the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “The School of Education and Lifelong Learning is a small, close-knit department where everyone works hard to maintain close connections between staff and students. This year, our students elected us Department of the Year, for the second time in four years, and we are proud that 95% of our graduating students were satisfied overall with our courses and provision.  This is a testimony to the strong partnerships within the department, partnerships which are crucial in achieving our aim of ensuring that students achieve to their potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

“We are also immensely proud of our students’ achievements, not least among them being that 95% of last year’s graduates are in work or further study, with 74% of them in graduate level employment, showing the value of the prominence given to employability throughout our courses.”

The National Student Survey (NSS) collects data from 155 of the UK’s Higher Education Institutions and is recognised as an influential source of information for prospective students when considering their options.
