2.9 Online/Distance Learning and CPD provision

1. The University has approved a set of key institutional principles, platforms and delivery models relevant to the design and delivery of online/distance learning and CPD provision.

2. Faculties should ensure that proposals to develop online/distance learning and CPD provision, including proposals tied to research projects, are considered through the University Planning round in order to ensure alignment with the University’s strategic priorities and resource availability.

3. Where proposals tied to research projects arise outside of the University Planning round, prior to the submission of a Research Grant Application, the department should consult with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) if there are implications for teaching and learning.

4. In the first instance asynchronous online provision should be developed in collaboration with the Higher Ed Partners (HEP) platform. Should it be determined that this is not the most appropriate partner / platform, the provision should be delivered through the University’s Lifelong Learning department, via Blackboard Ultra.

5. All other synchronous online or distance learning provision and CPD provision should be delivered through the University’s Lifelong Learning department, via Blackboard Ultra.

6. Proposals for online/distance learning provision with no VLE will not be taken forward.
