Fifty professionals who have successfully completed Facilitation for Organisation Leadership and Coaching and Mentoring for Leaders modules were recognised at an awards ceremony held at Aberystwyth University yesterday, Thursday 5th April.

The postgraduate accredited modules at level 7 are for professionals who are keen to develop their skills or who wish to assist others to develop their businesses and were designed in conjunction with Menter a Busnes, Wales’ leading independent economic development company, which has offices in Bangor, Meifod, St Asaph, Aberystwyth and Cardiff.

Dr Wyn Morris, a lecturer in Aberystwyth Business School said: “We are delighted to be working with Menter a Busnes to provide business growth support. Now in its fourth year, the collaboration between Aberystwyth Business School and Menter a Busnes has resulted in direct benefits for the local economy by raising our ability to support both enterprises and individuals to develop their leadership skills and potential.”

Wyn Owen, module leader added, “We have established a good relationship with Aberystwyth University which allows us to develop courses that bridge academia and the world of work. Professionals who are keen to continually develop their skills can access resources that are usually only available to full-time students, and that is greatly appreciated”.

Dewi Hughes, Technical Development Manager at Farming Connect received his certificate at yesterday’s event. He said: “Thanks to the module, I have transformed the way I work with my team. I now have the methods and means to encourage staff to develop their true potential, which is of great benefit to the individual and to the company. I would encourage more people to take advantage of this type of course to develop their interpersonal skills.”

Jessica Williams who is a Freelance Business Adviser has also completed the modules. He said: “I have enjoyed the opportunity to develop my professional qualifications up to Masters level. The modules meant I could learn through practical work, whilst also providing an opportunity to analyse academic literature. The courses have inspired me to work towards a full Masters degree.”

The Facilitation for Organisation Leadership module was first launched in 2015. Further collaboration between the University and Menter a Busnes is on-going with a Leading Change module being introduced in September 2019. Students who complete the 3 modules will be eligible for a full Postgraduate Certificate, PG Cert.
