We place great emphasis on research, and support major groups working at the forefront of world science.
- The interests of the Mathematical Modelling of Structures, Solids and Fluids group cover diverse problems in solid and fluid mechanics and mathematical analysis.
- The Quantum Structures, Information and Control group works in the area of quantum systems in interaction with their environment, and in particular the emergent field of quantum control engineering.
- The Algebraic Combinatorics group is active in design theory, coding theory and the representation theory of Weyl groups and associated Hecke algebras.
- The Statistics group's interests include the application of statistics to biology and bioinformatics.
Researchers in all groups are involved in wider collaborations.
