September 2023 study school is residential at Aberystwyth. Details and accommodation costs for this school are yet to be confirmed. Details will be emailed to you once you are registered on the course. If you have any questions about this school, please contact the Study School Coordinator Marianne Taylor on mmt@aber.ac.uk

Spring 2024 (March/April) study school is online. There is no fee for this online study school.

September 2023 Course Fees do not include the costs of the residential study schools. This means you will need to budget for travel and accommodation costs, as well as a study school fee which is approximately £50. We also offer a stay-on-campus package for residential study schools which includes all accommodation, food, and social events.  This is approximately £200-£300, depending upon the number of nights stayed. You can also make your own accommodation arrangements and just pay the study school fee.

The undergraduate BSc Information and Library Studies programme requires participation in three study schools.

Postgraduate programmes require participation in at least the first school (either residential or online). Further schools depend on the qualification / programme you are following. All postgraduate students progressing to the Dissertation stage must participate in a Dissertation School.

Other costs: full time (and part time)

There is a compulsory Study Tour to London in January of each year for all full time postgraduate programmes.  The tour usually lasts four days and requires students to budget for travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses.  Students are required to make travel and accommodation arrangements for themselves to suit individual requirements.

Ways to fund your studies

  • Postgraduate full time (and part time)
  • Undergraduate full time (and part time)
  • Distance learning (undergraduate and postgraduate). The UK Government provides loans for part-time postgraduate distance learners living in the UK (you must be registered on a two-year programme). For undergraduate distance learners living in the UK, you can apply for a loan (based on your pace of progress). For further information, please contact the Department, or follow the ‘Region’ links on the University’s Other Funding page. If you are funding the course yourself, you can pay for modules across two to five years by buying modules through the University’s online shop. Some distance learners are sponsored by their organisation.
