Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Demonstrate retained knowledge of the role and development of key agricultural technologies
Identify and evaluate the role of Precision Farming and explain the key principles involved
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of Geographic Information Systems and how they can be applied for more efficient management of agricultural systems
Identify the health and safety measures required to ensure safe operation and best practice on farms
Demonstrate the ability to plan for the safe and effective use of technology on farms
Brief description
The module describes the principles and practices underpinning the extensive range of technologies that are being developed for, and adopted by, the agricultural industry. The module will also provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their ability to plan and undertake technical farm skills in a safe manner consistent with best practice.

• The Development of Farm Machinery and Equipment
• Precision Farming Technology
• On-Farm Resource and Energy use
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Mapping Agricultural Land
The module will also offer students the opportunity to gain experience of planning safe and effective farm work and to undertake a technical farm skill.
